How long is the commute from Maple Valley to Seattle?
About 40 to 55 minutes off-peak via SR-169 to I-405, longer in rush hour. Bellevue is roughly 30 minutes. There's no light rail out this way, so most commuters drive or use park-and-ride buses from nearby Covington. The SR-18 corridor keeps improving, too: WSDOT just finished widening the highway to four lanes between I-90 and Deep Creek and rebuilt the I-90 interchange as a diverging diamond (completed summer 2026), which has smoothed out one of the worst bottlenecks on the route. 


What's the difference between living near Lake Wilderness and the Four Corners area?
Lake Wilderness is centered around Lake Wilderness Park, which includes trails, an arboretum, recreational facilities, and event spaces. Four Corners is a commercial hub near the intersection of Maple Valley Black Diamond Road SE and Kent-Kangley Road, with grocery stores, restaurants, and services. Many Maple Valley neighborhoods are within a short drive of both areas.


Is Maple Valley a good place to buy in 2026?
Maple Valley has long offered more house and bigger lots for the money than the closer-in Eastside, and conditions have shifted in buyers' favor over the past year. Well-priced homes can still attract strong interest, but buyers generally have more negotiating flexibility than they did a year ago.
